"Translation: we need to enforce conformity among council members, as we did when I was mayor; and get them to push together toward more liberal outcomes. Tony Collins would help make that happen."

Joe, there is nothing liberal about the actions of TREBIC-- it's called Fascism and it lies so far to the right that even the most staunch conservatives oppose it. Welfare for citizens can sometimes rightfully be called, Socialist. Complete corporate welfare is the goal of any Fascist regime and is in no way, shape or form, liberal.

Your constant painting of Greensboro politics as a left vs. right effort is exactly what the Melderec/TREBIC crowd needs you to do to provide them with the smoke and mirrors they need to continue their business-as-usual-at-the-expense-of-taxpayers way of doing business. They're laughing at you all the way to your bank account.

You're a doctor, trained in science. Use a scientific approach rather than a politically driven approach and you'll get a better grasp of what they're up to.

Yes, the Melderec part of the crowd leans left but they are a knowing pawn and could easily be pushed out if the TREBIC cartel were to suffer a big enough loss.

Stop the left vs right crap when it comes to local politics and you'll see a lot more local support of your efforts.

Or you can keep doing exactly what the business-as-usual crowd wants you to keep doing thus proving your overzealous partisanship to the entire world.

Duh.

Keith to City Council---lets row the boat into the abyss---come on, we can do it---then we can all get our pics in the N&R while high 5-ing each other and congratulating ourselves for being masters of the universe.
Greensboro needs a tsunami to break free from the claws of reckless non-essential spending.
Keith and friends have put Greensboro a decade behind economic recovery. Where is the economic development plan? Oh yes, I forgot, there isn't one. At least Knight is attempting to swing the pendulum back to center.
What a mess---
Good point on the partisanship rhetoric, people are sick and tired of all the finger pointing. The City must get their fiscal house in order and strike a critical balance between business and social. There are plenty of resources to work with---without raising taxes. Just need a strategic leader to collapse ineffective spending and redeploy to economic development infrastructure.
Unfortunately, bureaucrats only understand social, no results and zero accountability.
If Perkins and Collins get in---well---hang onto your wallet.

"Complete corporate welfare is the goal of any Fascist regime and is in no way, shape or form, liberal."

You mean like the Obama Administration practices as Crony Capitalism?

You don't think there's anything liberal about that?

Try again.

Bubba,
The Obama Administration is the Bush Administration with a new paint job and Crony Capitalism is a far right and as Fascist as it gets.

Personally, the only thing more disappointing than Bush is Obama. I voted for Bush in 2000 and Obama the last time 'round. This whole left vs. right thing that you seem so intent to hang on to is why we-the-people keep getting screwed. It's time to call a spade a spade and a jackhammer a jackhammer and understand that while both are different, both will put us in a hole we can't dig our way out of.

First line should have read, as far right and as Fascist as it gets.

"....as far right and as Fascist as it gets."

Fascism has nothing to do with "far right".

Obama's crony capitalism is a magnitude of 10 fold worse than Bush's ever was.

Want a little detail?

How much time and effort do you want to put in to this discussion?

"Translation: we need to enforce conformity among council members, as we did when I was mayor; and get them to push together toward more liberal outcomes."

And here's how they do it:

Billy, I have to agree with Bubba on this one. Fascism, with respect to its economic approach, is a form of socialism. That makes it extreme left from an economic standpoint. When the government interferes with or interjects itself into private markets, that skews the political spectrum to the left. I share your antipathy for crony capitalism.

Jim, I agree. And yes, I think that Keith Holliday is a key part of the status quo that has put Greensboro and Guilford County in its current economic mess. We need to be wary of anyone he supports.
