NC Spin:
Most we talk with believe there was already enough evidence to indict Mike (Easley) but (the Ruffin Poole plea agreement) could lead to even more charges. There is universal belief that the net has widened. Some even speculate whether this could involve Governor Perdue or current elected officials.
Perdue was asked about this possibility by a reporter. Check out her reaction below. Methinks she doth protest too much:
Even if she's lily-white spotless in the matter, Ms. Guv'nr did not handle that well at all. She showed little to no grace. Perhaps the question caught her off-guard. Nonetheless, the righteous indignation hissed out as she gave the reporter a quick tongue-lashing. Also, it's interesting that a Triangle-area TV station held Perdue's feet to the fire on this one. Has McClatchy done any coverage here or is that a laughably naive question to ask?

Glenn, I have not seen any newspaper coverage of this particular interaction, or of the possibility that Perdue's administration may get dragged into this thing.
But you are right. Perdue's response to the reporter was particularly vicious, inappropriate and evasive-- all at the same time. It makes the viewer feel there is something to hide.

Okay...there's transparency just as long as she's not asked a question which happens to regard corruption? She sure cleared that up.

Have I said yet how much I am LOVING this?
People like Bev treated "ordinary" people like me like DIRT. Stuck their noses up. Looked the other way. Ignored us. Didn't give a rat's tail about ethics or the letter/spirit of the law. And kept right on hob-nobbing with those who did us dirty.
The focus on "transparency" now (as the Governor huffs and puffs and walks away in a prissy snit) is laughable.
P.S. Methinks Bev needs to lighten up on the Botox. She looks like the Joker.

Vivi and Mary, that is pretty ironic about her talk about transparency-- even as she sticks it to that reporter for asking a reasonable question.
Apparently there are people in her administration who also had served under Easley. The question is whether they will get ensnared in the Easley investigations. Or, of course, if she herself will become a person of interest.

When Bev was running for Governor, or sheriff, or whatever else she is calling herself, something struck me as odd. Perdue has served for eight years as the second ranking elected state official. Now it seems that there is a scandal at the highest level of government, one that she is trying to distance herself from.
So here's the quandary: Was the incompetent, and didnt catch or understand the corruption? Or was she complacent, and let it happen?
Really, there are no other possibilities.

sorry, should read "was she incompetent"
Posted by: JC | April 24, 2010 at 10:22 PM
JC, I suppose she can claim that she did not report to the ex-governor, that she answered directly to the voters, and that she was independent of him in her role as lieutenant governor. She can argue that she had no real role. But your questions still apply, because there was a mess in Raleigh in nearly every potential place one could look for it. Was she complicit, oblivious or complacent?

joe,
came across this video somehow tonight and there is something in the background that sticks out in the video which is amazing in what this college has on it's campus. Let's see if you can see what i am talking about here is the video

Bit dog barks! Bev will be serving some prison time along with the others. She certainly didn't handle that like someone who wasn't involved.
triadwatch - I give up. What's in the background? Interesting video! A preview of things to come if this country continues on it's present path.

all right buzz check out what the student center is named after, none other than ex state representative Tony Rand. Did he pay for this building with our tax dollars? Should buildings be named after state politicians who are living?
We also have tony rand getting into some trouble this past month with this article,

"Was she complicit, oblivious or complacent?"
D? All of the above?
Posted by: JC | April 25, 2010 at 09:35 AM
the reason why i posted about tony rand is because the sword should fall down on him as well and also take marc basknight with him. The corruption runs real deep in the democratic party of N.C. and it is time to clean up this mess from top to bottom.
