Final: Giants 17, Patriots 14

How sweet it is.  An upset for the ages.

The Giants' defense shut down the Best Offense in History.

This was a great Super Bowl.  May have been the best I have seen.

So sweet...

Probably the most exciting Super Bowl game I've seen.
The Manning to Tyree pass is sure to be regarded as one of the most spectacular plays in Super Bowl history.
Congrats.

Well, I was pulling for the Pats, but the Giants deserved the win.

"The Manning to Tyree pass is sure to be regarded as one of the most spectacular plays in Super Bowl history."

It's always nice to see a player use his head in the heat of battle.

That play was one of those rare postseason turning points when something strange happens on both ends of the field. Manning reminded me on that play a bit of Fran Tarkenton, the Giants' quarterback when I was a kid, who was known for his scrambling.

Of course, I don't think the Giants then ever saw a Super Bowl victory.

Thanks for the comments (and also for the congrats, Tony).

That was 'no quarter asked, no quarter given' type football. No one gave the Giants anything. They took it. It was the best Super Bowl game I remember.

I'll never forget the bliss of watching that perfectly lobbed fade pass fall gracefully into Plaxico's wide open arms.

Justin Tuck should get a cash gift from every member of the Giants offense.

I still can't get over the fact that they were able to get to Brady, and hold against his offense so well. I wondered to myself during the late stages of the season whether there was not a superior defensive team in the NFL capable of doing that. I guess the Super Bowl answered that question.

But I also wonder whether the loss of the offensive lineman during the second quarter, Neal, may have been a critical factor. Then again, the Giants defense already was showing its stuff by that point when he exited the game. Brady is very good, but his offensive line always seemed to give him plenty of time-- before last night.

The last time I was this excited about a chamionship game -- the next day --- was when the D-Backs rallied in the 9th against the Yankees, down by a run and with Rivera on the mound.

A fine win for the Big Blue. They showed that you could trail badly and be in disarray (in the season), but recover and become the ultimate winner.

Yep, Sam, that was a great series. And I continue to be excited also. I need to make my way over to the TV to find a program showing the highlights.

Stormy, in professional sports there seems to be a bias toward the teams that finish well, for obvious reasons.
