Questionnaire Responses Thus Far-- Who is Rising to the Top

I have thus far received 12 responses from among the 32 candidates for City Council and Mayor.  (Neither of the mayoral candidates have responded as of yet.)

I have placed in the mail another questionnaire to the remaining 20 candidates, with a request to complete it and return it by September 24.  Those who have not responded include the following; Johnson, Kern, Abuzuaiter, Gray, Landau, Rahenkamp, Rakestraw, Reichmann, Venable, Wallace, Carpenter, Clinkscale, Coffey, Falls, Wells, Coffer, Hayworth, Barber, Crawford, and Wade.

Among those who have responded so far, a few are rising to the top.   In my opinion, none of the candidates batted 1.000 with respect to how they answered the questions.  But in looking at their responses, their websites and blogs, and also the forum held by the Greensboro Neighborhood Congress, it is possible to begin identifying preferences.  These are my favorites so far, unless new information arises that causes me to reevaluate:

Bill Knight is a retired CPA who is running for an at-large seat.   He is the only at-large candidate at this point I can support without equivocation.

Joe Wilson has demonstrated through his blog and his questionnaire responses that he probably merits a crack at the District 3 seat.  If I receive a response from some of the other candidates,  I will reevaluate.  While I saw Ms. Hayworth at the candidate forum, and have reviewed her website, it is difficult to get a precise feel for where she stands on some important matters.

Lance Jones in District 2 responds in a manner that suggests to me that he would be preferable to his opponent.

I do not have enough information yet with respect to the other seats.  You may find the questionnaire responses received thus far by clicking "Council Candidates" at the top of the right column, or by visiting this page.
